Mechanism of Solvolysis of Orthophosphoramidates

چکیده

The data on the solvolysis of orthophosphoramidates are collected and rationalized into two groups: a mechanism involving a unimolecular decomposition of the compounds where nitrogen contains a positive charge, and a bimolecular one for molecules with uncharged nitrogen involving the entering and leaving groups at right angles to each other. The first mechanism is invoked for all acid catalyzed reactions and the decomposition of monoamidophosphoric acid, the second for all mononanions and acids except monoamidophosphoric and possibly the 7V-arylphosphoramidic.

Kinetics and Mechanism of the Substitution of Ligand (Urea) of [Ti(ur)6]3+ by H2O and SCN¯ in Ethanol Solution

The kinetics of substitution of [Ti(ur)6]3+ by H2O and SCN¯ ion in ethanol solution have been measured spectrophotometrically by stopped-flow method. Water is a good nucleophile toward Ti(III) substrates. Even the solvent ethanol appears to be a poor ligand when compared to water. Substitution, in general follows two parallel pathways: "direct" (second order...

The Kinetics and Mechanism of Oxidation of the N-Substituted Urea-Titanium (III) Complexes by Iodine (AS I-3) in Ethanol and Acetonitrile

The oxidation of complexes of Ti(III), (TiL6)3+ (L=ur, Meur, DMeur, DEture, N-Bu-ur, and Phur), by iodine as I3- in ethanol and acetonitrile solutions, appears to proceed as a second order reaction and is much faster in ethanol solution (where solvolysis occurs) than in acetonitrile. The enthalpy of activation appears to decrease as ligand's size ...

A Study of Solvent Effects in the Solvolysis of Propargyl Chloroformate

The specific rates of solvolysis of propargyl chloroformate (1) are analyzed in 22 solvents of widely varying nucleophilicity and ionizing power values at 25.0 °C using the extended Grunwald-Winstein equation. Sensitivities to solvent nucleophilicity (l) of 1.37 and to solvent ionizing power (m) of 0.47 suggest a bimolecular process with the formation of a tetrahedral intermediate. A plot of th...

Detailed Analysis for the Solvolysis of Isopropenyl Chloroformate.

The specific rates of solvolysis (including those obtained from the literature) of isopropenyl chloroformate (1) are analyzed using the extended Grunwald-Winstein equation, involving the N(T) scale of solvent nucleophilicity (S-methyldibenzothiophenium ion) combined with a Y(Cl) scale based on 1-adamantyl chloride solvolysis. A similarity model approach, using phenyl chloroformate solvolyses fo...

Grunwald-Winstein Analysis - Isopropyl Chloroformate Solvolysis Revisited

Specific rates of solvolysis at 25 degrees C for isopropyl chloroformate (1) in 24 solvents of widely varying nucleophilicity and ionizing power, plus literature values for studies in water and formic acid, are reported. Previously published solvolytic rate constants at 40.0 degrees C are supplemented with two additional values in the highly ionizing fluoroalcohols. These rates are now are anal...
